A) Quick Set Up for PCs
The live webcast system uses Windows Media Player Version Nine or greater. This is because Windows Media is already installed on PC computers used by government offices.
The
fastest and easiest way to check your webcast readiness is to use a PC with Internet Explorer as your web browser and click the link below. It will pop up another browser window which will automatically detect if you have the required Windows Media Player. If not, the system will direct you to the download page.
Test your readiness now with Internet Explorer
B) Recommended System Requirements
1. Center the Page: Screen resolution MUST be set to 1024 x 768 or greater. If your resolution is set to 800 x 600, you won't be able to see all of the webcast page. To change your screen resolution, RIGHT click over top of your desktop. For Windows XP, choose "Properties" "Settings" and move the resolution to 1024 x 768 and click "Apply". For VISTA, RIGHT click over top of your desktop, choose "Personalize" "Display Settings" and move the resolution to 1024 x 768 or greater.
2. Computer and Browser: PC with Internet Explorer (version 6 or greater) as your web browser.
3. Windows Media Player: Windows Media Player Version Nine or greater is needed for your PC or use the correct MAC version if you are on a MAC.. Download here.
(NOTE: The latest version of Windows Media Player is strongly recommended).
4. Speakers: Sound card and speakers or headset to hear the audio with the volume turned up.
5. Internet Connection: A high speed Internet connection that permits streaming media.
C) Most Common Issues
1. Corporate Firewall: If you cannot hear the audio even though you have followed all of the system requirements, the most common problem is a firewall in your building that has been configured to block streaming media. If you are in a high security corporate, university or government environment, this problem is possible and you will need to contact your IT administrator to adjust the network so it allows live webcasting. Alternatively, you can watch the webcast at home or on some other connection that is not part of the building network.
2. Windows Media Player: Another common problem is not having the required software which is the free Windows Media Player Version 9 or greater. For computers that are using Windows Media Player for the first time, it may be necessary to click an Active X control at the top of the browser.
